ROLE of the POSITION Student Wellness at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant 1 (AA1) for the Student Health Center (SHC) to join a dynamic, integrated service delivery unit that includes a nationally accredited health center, counseling center, behavioral health team, pharmacy, faculty and staff treatment center, wellness promotion, department. As well as offices for disabilities and student conduct. Student Wellness provides a comprehensive array of health and wellness services to students, faculty, staff and dependents that are responsive to the needs of our diverse population. This position works in the front office of the Student Health Center under the supervision of the Student Wellness Finance Manager. The position performs clinic front desk duties which includes greeting patients, answering patient phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, coordinating initial patient flow in clinic, posting patient payments and handling any general administrative patient-related duties. The AA1 will be trained on and use a clinical practice management system to schedule, cancel or reschedule patient appointments. The position is the first point of contact for patients so the ability to provide excellent customer service is critical. QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully pass a criminal background screening. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to candidates that have experience working in a similar position in healthcare. Must have the ability to effectively and professionally communicate in verbal and written form and work collaboratively with clinic staff. SALARY Grade 23 Step 1, salary $29,586.96 . "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
