ROLE of the POSITION This position leads the maintenance and repair of fire suppression systems and equipment while promoting overall professionalism, efficiency, and thoroughness of the Fire Safety Shop. Will assist Fire Safety Shop supervisor; lead, inspect and evaluate job progress of tradespeople; identify, promote, and manage projects related to upgrading, retrofitting, or replacing Fire Suppression systems and/or equipment; monitor assigned budget, inventory and expenditures; and ensure required documents and records are maintained in accordance with established standards. Incumbent will be a lead worker, acting supervisor during absence of Fire Safety Shop supervisor, and perform at advanced journey level work. Work schedule is Tuesday through Friday 5:00 am to 3:30 pm. QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level plumbing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Valid Nevada Fire Marshal Sprinkler license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. A Valid Nevada Fire Marshal Underground Sprinkler license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. A Valid Nevada Fire Marshal Private Hydrant license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. A Valid Nevada class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. As a contingency of employment, the chosen candidate must receive within one year of hire date, and maintain throughout employment, Nevada Fire Marshal backflow tester license. As a contingency of employment, the chosen candidate must receive within one year of hire date, and maintain throughout employment, Nevada Fire Marshal Extinguisher license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Nevada Fire Marshal Fire Alarm License. Prior warehouse operations experience or warehouse management experience. Knowledge of local construction supply vendors. SALARY Grade 32 Step 1, salary $42,553. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
