The Analyst I/Geographic Information Systems directs electronic mapping, drafting and facility information maintenance. The incumbent maintains current knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) hardware and software with emphasis in ESRI software; current knowledge of GPS software and hardware, AutoCAD software, Capture and Papervision Scanning software and FieldSmart viewer software; evaluates system performance and enhancement requests from users; creates and executes custom spatial data queries using Perl programming language and analyses to support data requests for State, DOT and operations pipe integrity programs; acts as a liaison between their division and corporate GIS System Administrator; and provides leadership in the GIS department in the supervisorA?s absence.Act as local GIS administratorAct as the local AutoCAD SMEAct as the local GPS process SME and Division Point of Contact for all GPS related issuesProvide expertise and demonstrate familiarity with the GIS software principles, methods and proceduresDevelop and execute custom spatial queries and analysesAdd and remove userA?s GIS accounts on the systemAdvise and direct the activities of division users on the GISDemonstrate familiarity with the applications and functionality of the GIS. Keep and maintain records of maps and facility informationConduct interim user training on the GIS system as appropriateConduct interim user training on AutoCAD as appropriateConduct interim user training on GPS software and hardwareConduct interim user training on Capture and Papervision software and hardwareEvaluate GIS requests from users by prioritizing the requests and reacting accordingly to keep negative business impacts to a minimumTroubleshoot and identify problems with the system, repair and/or determine the level of assistance neededUnderstand the complete GIS from a functional point of viewUnderstand how the GIS can best be utilized within the DivisionA?s normal business activitiesMaintain active liaison with local and project management, keeping them informed of projects progress, discussing GIS issues and action items, and making required presentationsRespond to GIS facilities data information requests from any/all departments within the DivisionConduct employee trainingEstablish and maintain liaison with Division personnel for soliciting input for new GIS applications and enhancementsAssure Company compliance against published Drafting, Engineering and company standardsReview and verify that information placed into the GIS meets the Company posting standardsMay be required with emergency response activities : Be subject to A?on:callA? duty This position requires one to three years of relevant work experience. This incumbent must possess a valid driverA?s license. It is recommended that the incumbent possess a certification or degree in GIS or related studies. The incumbent must provide innovative thinking and creativity and be able to interact with functional organizations throughout the Divisions. Good oral and written communications skills are needed.
